Begin Again
We have listened to our brain our whole life long and try to understand what it is saying to us about the next thing and the next thing. Well, let me take the burden off because it’s always the next thing here. Life is a verb yet we slap pronouns on it to make some sense of what this and that is.
It seems there’s always a beginning and ending going on here. Take one of the first actions upon exiting the womb for example. We inhale. Our last outward action in life will be the exhale. This may seem ghastly, yet, one can see it another way. We get a whole lifetime in one complete breath! And isn’t life just all the little things? And very repetitive; the next breath, step, meal, sleep, dream, wake, thought, action and repeat.
Now let’s dive deeper into this repetition within and around us. The sun and moon repeatedly sail across the sky, moving the air and water. The wind moves and the waves pulse, the rain falls and the rivers pulse. Then there is the unseen energy in the broad spectrum we cannot see with senses that are slowed to match natures frequency. On the smallest scale, scientific endeavors are still looking for this thing called “matter”; yet the tinier they split it, it remains in existence only part of the time, blinking on and off. We as humans vibrate on an average of 7 hertz. Think of it as waves, and every wave has a trough, when it’s not there. That might mean that on the frequency level we are literally blinking in and out of existence. Beginning and ending without even noticing.
The concepts above may be interesting and create a little wonder in one’s life. But, what is it good for here in repeat land? Investigating thought may be helpful. The average human has 70,000 thoughts a day. What! Yet not to worry, most of these are just repetitive. And where do the thoughts come from? If you look closely, they just appear, yet are always related to themselves; one leads to another, playing off each other for what end? And that’s the key. Thought is generally looking for a means to an end. So what is the point in giving thought any serious credit when we know everything is in flux, always beginning and ending? Isn’t it funny how much weight we give our thoughts, when they are like ghosts, with no substance, constantly showing up, unwelcome, and draining our life force? In a yogic strategy, we meditate by pointing our attention to an object or action. This distracts the mind from grasping at thought. Once you can learn to focus better through practice, one can more easily observe thoughts and let them pass. Letting them pass is the key. Just like everything else, all coming and going. Another good technique for stabilizing the mind is bedtime and waking up. Make sure these times are peaceful. The first thoughts of the day are like a forecaster of your day and the last of your night. And, if you want peace, you have to be peace.
