Move Ment

Action, movement. At this moment is anything still? I mean at base level. No, we live in a constantly shifting reality. Notice how nature works, and consider the body as a piece of it. Everything is in a state of adaptive flux. Now let’s look at a muscle. What is it for? It’s there to mainly stabilize joints, and move bones. And when we move we feel which means nervous system, a crucial component, connecting our mind, to our body. “Move” and “Ment”. Both Latin meaning “Disturb” and “Mind”. Now why would we want to disturb our body/mind through movement? Use it or lose it. Adaptations! If one sits a lot one becomes the chair. And when you move you might have pain in your back, indicating a weak core/trunk. Now this is huge. Since your mind is involved via nervous system belief, comes into play. The belief that something in your back is broken, when it’s just a weak core. This idea in you has to be thrown out. Pain doesn’t mean broken, it’s a signal that you are moving out of consistent norm, an adaptation, and there is an imbalance. There are significant findings in MRI scans and X-RAY, of people with significant rotator cuff tears and spinal disk herniations and scarring, even bad alignment, with no pain. And ones with normal scans that have chronic pain. How do you find out for sure? And possibly change the paradigm? Test yourself through consistent movement, full body.

The body is a resilient appearance of nature. It adapts to its environment and if one doesn’t move you’ll just get more of the same. There will always be pain in life but do you want it from atrophy and decay, or soreness’s and some injury through movement? Movement will bring the benefit of higher pain tolerance, pain reduction and mental clarity. How do we break out of the broken body idea? By starting to move. And when you disturb the body this way it will begin by letting you know where you are weak and imbalanced, not broken. But if consistent those pains will fade. Now if you see it as a chore, reps, or add undo extra exercise to “fix” yourself it may be disheartening. Start slow and keep it up everyday. You have all the equipment you need to start. A body. And the ground.

A good way to start healing is simple things, like coming down onto the floor. It’s a perfect wall where you can’t fall and strengthen muscles. Yoga has many postures that will strengthen and test you. That clunky feel of your hands and joints on the floor will fade, if consistent. And a new way of feeling through your days will arise. The body rehydrates in the deep areas, lymph is flushed etc etc. Limiting beliefs such as pain being purely mechanical in nature will fade as life flows into those areas left neglected. Try going barefoot. Have you ever seen or had a cast removed? The limb under it is frighteningly atrophied and weak.

Now, think about shoes…
